Happy National Entrepreneurship Week! In the U.S. there are about thirty million of us small businesses and entrepreneurs. Entrepreneur is a word from French origin meaning someone who who “organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so.” (Thanks, Google Dictionary!)
According to SmallBusiness.Chron.Com, “to be a small-scale business-owner, you must own a business with fewer than 500 employees and less than $7 million in annual revenues. A caterer who works alone and from home is a small-scale business owner, as is the owner of a catering company with several franchises.
Did you just hit $7,000,001? Congratulations! You’re now “medium” sized, and can pat yourself on the back.
For small business owners, whether you’ve taken on a “greater than normal” financial risk in the thousands or in the millions of dollars, you are the life blood of business, one of the 99 percent of businesses in the U.S.A., providing significantly to new jobs, generating local economic growth, and empowering innovation. Thank you! I celebrate YOU this week!
